Semi Truck Wraps

Semi Truck Wraps and Lettering for Tractors and Trailers in DFW

What Is a Semi Truck Wrap?

A semi truck wrap is printed vinyl applied to a tractor, its trailer, or both, to brand a carrier, promote a business, or tell a story on the road. Tractors offer the cab doors, sleeper sides, and fairings, while a full-length trailer gives one of the largest flat surfaces any vehicle has. At 1st Class Graphics in Mansfield, TX, we design, print, and install semi graphics in-house, from a partial wrap across a tractor’s sleeper, like the one shown here, to cut vinyl lettering on a trailer. Many trucks need both: a design that sells, and the carrier markings the truck is required to carry. For other business vehicles, see our commercial vehicle wraps page.

Trailer Graphics That Read From a Distance

A trailer side is seen from across highways, truck stops, and parking lots, so the message has to land at a glance. That means one strong image or headline, a name large enough to read from far away, and a phone number or website placed where it stays visible. The Timberview High School Band trailer we wrapped uses a full-side graphic, while Venus Construction’s trailer uses clean cut vinyl lettering with the company name, a service line, and a phone number. Both approaches work; the right one depends on budget and what the trailer needs to say. For smaller trailers pulled by pickups, see our trailer wraps page.

Required Markings and Carrier Branding

Under federal rule 49 CFR 390.21, a commercial motor vehicle has to display the carrier’s name and USDOT number on both sides, in lettering that contrasts sharply with the background and can be read from 50 feet in daylight. We build those markings into the layout so they stay clear instead of getting lost in the graphics. Owner-operators, small carriers, and companies running their own trucks can pair the required lettering with a logo and contact details on the cab doors, then add trailer graphics when the budget allows. If you run several trucks, our fleet vehicle wraps page covers keeping one design consistent across all of them.

What to Plan Before Wrapping a Semi Truck

Tractor or Trailer

Decide whether the design covers the tractor, the trailer, or both, since they can be done separately.

Carrier Markings

Have your legal carrier name and USDOT number ready so they're laid out correctly.

Trailer Condition

Note dents, rivet lines, and repairs on the trailer sides, since vinyl follows the surface underneath.

Downtime Window

Pick a window when the truck can be off the road, and share your route schedule.

Semi truck projects move quickly when the details are settled up front. Send the tractor’s year, make, and model, the trailer’s length and type, and photos of each side. Include logo files, the message you want on the trailer, and the exact carrier name and USDOT number to display. If the trailer belongs to someone else, confirm what graphics the owner allows before design starts. I highly recommend 1st Class Graphics for all commercial vehicle marketing materials. My initial discovery call with Gary was very informative and enthusiastic. Next was the design phase, where the graphic designer brought my ideas into reality. It was a collaborative effort from start to finish, only requiring 3 iterations. Lastly, payment and pickup. They are priced competitively and have a quick turnaround. When I received my trailer I was pleasantly shocked at the value I received! Just look at the pics! Needles to say 1st Class Graphics has secured a lifelong customer.

Semi Truck Wrap FAQs

How much does it cost to wrap a semi truck?

The cost to wrap a semi truck depends on whether you’re doing the tractor, the trailer, or both, how much of each is covered, and the design work involved. Door lettering is a much smaller job than a full trailer wrap. Send photos and trailer dimensions to get a free quote for your truck.

Yes. Cut vinyl lettering is a straightforward way to put a company name, carrier name, USDOT number, and phone number on a tractor or trailer, as on the Venus Construction trailer we lettered. It can stand alone or be combined with a partial wrap, and it’s laid out to stay readable at highway distance.

Yes. The trailer and tractor can be done together or separately, which helps when a trailer changes hands or a carrier wants one look across several tractors. Trailer sides are large, flat, and seen from far away, so a trailer-only design still carries a strong message. For straight trucks with a cargo box, see our box truck wraps page.

A semi’s graphics face more miles, weather, and road grime than most vehicles, so care matters. Washing without harsh brushes or close high-pressure spray at the edges helps, and graphics placed away from steps, handles, and fuel areas wear more slowly. We plan layouts with those contact points in mind.

Yes. Wraps and lettering can come off when a tractor or trailer is sold, leased out, or rebranded, and new markings can go on in their place. Removal is cleanest on original paint in good condition. Plan removal early so the new owner can apply their own carrier markings before the truck goes back to work.
