School & Bus Wraps

Bus Wraps for School Districts, Activity Buses, and Team Travel in North Texas

What Is a Bus Wrap?

A bus wrap is printed vinyl applied to a bus body to carry a school’s name, mascot, and colors, or a business or church’s branding, across the full length of the vehicle. Bus wraps are among the largest single graphics we produce, and they carry a lot of meaning for school communities: a wrapped activity bus arriving at a game or competition announces the district before anyone steps off. For school districts, a school bus wrap project usually focuses on activity buses that carry teams, bands, and clubs to events. 1st Class Graphics in Mansfield, TX designs, prints, and installs bus wraps in-house for school districts, churches, and organizations across North Texas. Schools often pair buses with equipment trailers, which you can see on our trailer wraps page.

Activity Buses Versus Route Buses in Texas

Texas treats activity buses and route buses differently, which shapes what a wrap can look like. Under 37 Texas Administrative Code § 14.52, a multifunction school activity bus may be any color except National School Bus Glossy Yellow, and it cannot be used for home-to-school transportation. That’s why the boldest full-color designs are usually found on activity buses used for athletics, band, and field trips. Buses used on daily routes must meet the Texas School Bus Specifications adopted by the Department of Public Safety, so districts should confirm with DPS and their transportation department what is allowed before planning graphics on a route bus. We design within whatever your district confirms. Finished district projects are in our wrap portfolio.

Designing Around Windows, Doors, and Emergency Exits

A bus body is a long run of windows, doors, and emergency exits, so the design is laid out around them rather than across them. The school name usually runs along the panel below or above the window line, where it reads from the side of the road, while the mascot or artwork fills the rear and the area behind the entry door. The rear of the bus faces traffic on every trip, so it often carries the mascot and district name at a size readable from a car behind it. Emergency exits, lights, and required markings are kept clear so the wrap never covers something the bus needs. Districts with support vehicles can match them through our fleet vehicle wraps approach.

What to Plan Before Wrapping a Bus

Bus Type

Confirm whether the bus is an activity bus or a route bus, since that decides what the design may include.

Approval Chain

Identify who signs off, such as the athletic director, transportation director, superintendent, or school board.

Mascot Artwork

Gather official mascot, logo, and color files so the bus matches uniforms and signage.

Event Calendar

Share when the bus is needed for playoffs or trips, so installation doesn't take it out of service at the wrong time.

School bus projects involve more people than most vehicle wraps, so the best starting point is a short list of who needs to approve the design and by when. Send photos of both sides, the rear, and the front of the bus, along with its make, model, and length. Include your official mascot artwork and colors, and confirm with your transportation department whether the bus is used on routes or only for activities. Booster clubs and sponsors sometimes help fund bus projects, so let us know if sponsor recognition needs a place in the design. Bus Wrap FAQs

How do you design a bus wrap?

A bus wrap is designed on a layout of the exact bus, with the school name placed along the window line, the mascot on the rear and door side, and all exits and lights kept clear. We send proofs to your district team and revise until the people who approve it are satisfied.

The cost to wrap a bus depends on the bus length, whether it’s a full or partial wrap, and how detailed the artwork is. Full-length school buses and short activity buses are very different projects. Send the bus make, model, and length to get a free quote for your district.

Yes, schools often wrap an activity bus to celebrate a playoff run, a state title, or a band or academic championship. Tell us the event date when you request a quote, since celebration projects usually have a firm deadline tied to the game or parade.

Not always. In Texas, a multifunction school activity bus may be any color except National School Bus Glossy Yellow, while route buses must meet the state’s school bus specifications. Confirm your bus type with your transportation department, and we’ll design within what’s allowed.

Yes, church buses, charter buses, and organization shuttles are wrapped the same way as school activity buses, with the design planned around windows and doors. They often carry the organization’s name, logo, and website so the bus works as a moving sign wherever the group travels.
